Early-WWII USMC Hawley M1 Helmet Liner W/ Improvised Accessories (Third Pattern)
This is an original early-WWII third-pattern Hawley manufactured helmet liner. The front features an original hand-applied Eagle Globe & Anchor insignia of the USMC. This liner appears to have been issued to atleast two different servicemen - a Marine and a soldier. The interior's front brim is named to a "Moore", while the rear and side are respectively marked with the laundry number "H-8297" and the likely corresponding initials of "C.H." Its non-painted steel A-washers, khaki suspension, and studs for a removable leather liner strap date the liner's production to late-1942. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original neckband, damaged flat-buckled leather liner strap, and an improvised headband. The liner is cracked at the rear, but is still in good and displayable condition. This liner would display quite nicely when installed in a late-1942 fixed loop helmet shell.
