WWII U.S. Mosquito Net Tent (1943)
This is an original large WWII U.S. mosquito net tent, issued to both soldiers and Marines throughout the Pacific to limit malaria casualties, however there is also evidence of these being cut up and used as helmet netting (the wartime image shows one such helmet belonging to a KIA in Metz, France). Its official nomenclature is the "Bars, Insect, Field", and was manufactured by the United States Cabinet Bed Co. on July 21. Unfortunately, the seam was stitched right through the date portion of the tag, however after reviewing others, we're confident it dates to 1943. Mosquito netting is notorious for being fragile, so its new owner should handle with care.
