WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Officer's Crusher Cap (Size 7 1/4)
This is an original WWII U.S. Army officer's crusher cap - commonly worn by airmen stationed in the European Theatre of Operations. The hat was manufactured in 1944 in London by J.S. Wilson Ltd. It is a desirable size 7 1/4. Handwritten on the underside of the leather lining is the veteran's name, "H. A. Tomkins." Additionally, hidden beneath the leather lining are two pieces of notebook paper - likely placed there by Tomkins in order to provide a tighter fit. It still retains its original plastic head liner protector. This cap is in exceptional condition; the leather components remain soft and supple and the wool exhibits minimal mothing.
