This original Austrian inter-war manufactured M17 helmet was reused during the early stages of WWII by the feared Ordnungspolizei, an ethnic-cleansing police unit and auxiliary force under the SS. View the Product Information Section to learn more about this helmet and the menacing unit that wore it following the 1938 annexation of Austria. The helmet's exterior and interior brim showcase an original wartime, brushed grey-green repaint, with its earlier black finish still visible in some areas. The helmet's sides are adorned with a second pattern National Socialist Party decal and early non-bordered police decal. The decals were never lacquered, resulting in a flaking, crackled appearance. The interior retains the hand-etched surname of its original owner, "Kober". The original three-pad leather liner and roller-buckle chinstrap are still intact, however the liner's drawstring is missing and the leather components are damaged. The domed split pins are all original and untouched.
