WWII German M40 Reissued Ex-Single Decal Heer Helmet & Liner Set (SE64)
This original WWII German M40 helmet has an exceptional combat-used appearance. Its decal has been scratched away from the wearer's left side. Of the two examples recorded in Brian Ice's German Helmet Lot Numbers 1935-1945 that share this same model, manufacturer, size, lot number, and decal style, both are single decal Heers. The helmet's interior brim is size stamped SE64, along with the lot number of 9806, denoting 1941 production by the Sachsichse Emaillierwerke, Lauter factory. Its original leather liner shows heavy and consistent use. Interestingly, the liner has a non-reenforced aluminum band, which is most commonly seen among early-production M35s. The split pins and washers show no signs of recent maniupulation, so we are confident the liner swap was a wartime modification during a field refurbishment.
