WWII German Artillery Fuze Crate Painted by U.S. First Infantry Division Soldier
This is an original WWII German wooden artillery fuze crate that was captured and personalized by Edward T. "Blackie" Bednarz, First Infantry Division, 18th Regiment, while he was in "Eulfeld (sic), Germany". In addition to the many places he visited, it is marked with a tribute to his wife, Carmella, and also features the crest of the 18th Regiment. Its lid is intact, however one of the clasps does not close as "tightly" as the other. Its dimensions are 14 1/4" x 14 1/4" x 7". This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece and is perhaps the most unique item we've ever offered!
