Pre-WWI German M1871 Prussian Ammunition Pouch (1880)
This is an original 1880-dated Prussian ammunition pouch, designed for the Mauser M1871. It is identified to the 123rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Wurttemburg - "King Charles". Although this pouch is nearly 150 years old, the brass hardware and leather are in remarkably good condition. It even retains its original canvas cartridge dividers. Interestingly, there is evidence of these pouches being issued as late as WWI to engineers, foot artillery, signalmen, support troops, as well as Landwehr and Landsturm troops. This would display quite nicely when placed on an enlisted man's belt.
