Mid-WWII USN Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & MSA Liner Set
This is an original mid-WWII USN M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured fixed loop helmet shell and MSA liner were found separately from one another, but match each other nearly perfectly. Both showcase an original battleship blue paint scheme, with evidence of yellow peeking through. In addition to the original Navy repaint, the helmet shell retains somewhat tattered OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. Its heat stamp is concealed beneath surface rust, however we can see the helmet has the later style fixed loops in combination with the early cast-brass chinstrap buckle, carried over from the M1917A1 helmet - a common characteristic of helmets around the 200-range, which dates its production to June 1942. The MSA liner's blackened brass A-washers date its production from mid-1944 to 1945. The OD#3 (khaki) suspension is strong and intact; it comes complete with an original headband and neckband.
