Late-WWII U.S. M1-C Paratrooper Helmet & Westinghouse Airborne Liner (ID'd Set)
This original WWII paratrooper helmet set exhibits the name and serial number of its prior owner, however given the fragile nature of the liner's suspension, no attempts at disassembling it have been made to better read the identification. That said, we can at least see the original owner held the rank of private. The McCord manufactured front seam swivel loop M1-C helmet shell's heat stamp is 1162E. This, in combination with its transitional stainless steel rim meeting at the rear, dates its production to November 1944. It features its original factory finish, cork texture, and tattered remnants of OD#7 (green) paratrooper chinstraps. The Westinghouse manufactured paratrooper liner retains original factory installed A-yokes with large cast buckles. The A-washers are blackened brass, which dates the liner's production from mid-1944 to 1945. The exterior's original factory finish is in good condition, however the khaki suspension is unfortunately torn throughout. Remnants of its original accessories are still present, including a rather desirable late-WWII 4-hole khaki chin cup. Even in its rough state, this helmet displays quite nicely and will serve as an excellent research opportunity for its new owner.
