Early-WWII USMC Camouflage Helmet Cover
This is an original WWII U.S. Marine Corps camouflage helmet cover. It features the distinctive double-chain center stitching and zig-zag border stitching on the beach side. It is still in its wartime configuration, with no Eagle Globe & Anchor stampings on either side of the cover. One of the flaps is stenciled with a yellow '85'. This variation, with the the buttonhole slits in just the body, is referred to by collectors as a 'second pattern' cover. The second pattern cover is generally considered to be the rarest of the three wartime variations. This cover is in good, combat-used condition. Cuts for the helmet shell's chinstraps to pass through are present and there are small tears and rust staining throughout.
