Early-WWII U.S. M1 Helmet Liner Headband (Double Wire)
This original WWII headband was manufactured by Johnson & Johnson. It features the 'double wire' buckle variation, which dates the headband's production from early-1942 to mid-1942. The leather remains quite soft and supple. It was used by two separate servicemen, as evident by the crossed-out and subsequent laundry numbers of C-2178 and G-5636, respectively. This would be an ideal headband for all helmet liners with non-painted steel A-washers (including Hawleys and low-pressure liners).
