Early-WWII Hawley M1 Helmet Liner (2nd Pattern Suspension)
This original early-WWII Hawley manufactured M1 helmet liner features a relatively uncommon variation. It has non-painted steel A-washers and a second pattern khaki suspension, all the while maintaining remnants of the first pattern stationary leather liner strap. These transitional features date the liner's production to mid-1942. The khaki suspension is strong and intact, however the liner exhibits cracking throughout. It has recently been completed with the addition of an original, named headband, and American Stay Co. manufactured neckband. Like the liner itself, all of the accessories date to 1942.
